My Musical Philosophy
When I think about music, I think about where it comes from, its history, its native origin, and its source. Personally, I have been influenced by Rock and Roll, Blues, both old and new school, some Hip Hop, Latin, Electronic-Dance, and some alternative styles.
All music comes from a rich and diverse heritage, it is my belief that one should identify with the people who make it, and if you can't, you should at least strive to know a little about the background.
Liking big band music or the latest Latin craze just because it's the newest thing seems a little one-dimensional. If your like me you have found that when a person is really into a certain style of music, they can't help but let it move their soul, character and existence.
Throughout my life, music has always been a major influence. It has the power to transform my atmosphere when I’m feeling down, the power to uplift me when I am in despair; but the thing I find most fascinating about music is that it doesn’t always end up improving your mood: like all forms of art, it imitates life, which is not always portrayed in a positive light. The musicians that I admire most have the versatility to induce several different emotional responses within the same musical piece.
Cheers,
Jeffrey
